Big vs small…

He’s still looking for the catch of the day in midst of his friend’s bigger Chinese fishing nets in the background. This was shot at Fort Kochi, Kerala (India) and where these big fishing nets are the prime attraction.
These Chinese nets are sort of manual lift operated nets, supported by a cantilever where a man walks along the beam to push the nets into the sea. Each net is for a particular level of water and need 4-6 people to operate and given that it only catches very limited number of fishes (that crosses through that small area), I wonder how they are still able to maintain this tradition. There must be been some sense of pride in hosting them as well since I saw few new installations in progress as well.
